Bourne Hill Neolithic Mound

 
Bourne Hill is a Scheduled Monument located on the hill̓ s high point at 50.78675N,0.2359E: It is some 12 metres diameter or more and about 1.5 metres high. It is approximately level though slopes from west to east by about 300mm. An apparent slight bowl exists in the surface, though the ridge of the bowl, if it existed, no longer exists to the east. An OS survey marker is adjacent to it (seen right of photo):




It has clear sea views beyond Hastings: (picture taken at dawn near equinox)





And clear sea views towards the Isle of Wight (picture taken at dusk near equinox)



This mound is one of the types which can be used for the experiment to show the curvature of the Earth.
